January 1, 1951 - The traditional mid-watch verse by LTJG W. H. Austin in the cold and sleet of Naples
January 5, 1951 - A visit to the Free Territory of Trieste
January 12, 1951 - Moored in Venice and Rear Admiral Mascatilli pays a visit
January 18, 1951 - Time to climb the Acropolis as we are in Athens
January 21, 1951 - A lttle more rural Italy as we visit Sicily
January 25, 1951 - A typical day of OPS while we serve the Sixth Fleet
January 29, 1951 - Time for a break so we head back to Sicily
February 3, 1951 - Back to the mainland looking for the volcano at Naples
February 6, 1951 - We know the way now so its back to Sicily
February 17, 1951 - Forgot to see the Parthenon so we head back to Athens
February 22, 1951 - A different kind of port - Izmir, Turkey
February 28, 1951 - Highline our Ambassador to Tukey and take him to the island of Rhodes
March 3, 1951 - Time for another Mediterranean island - Crete
March 7, 1951 - Spend a while doing daily OPS out of Suda bay, Crete
March 12, 1951 - Find a leftover mine and use the 40mm's to sink it
March 16, 1951 - We make it to the south of France at Golfe Juan
March 31, 1951 - Finally make it back home to the CE Piers of good old Norfolk
April 10, 1951 - Offload our ammo and head into Drydock in Portsmouth
May 11, 1951 - It's finally Spring so we head North to Argentia, Newfoundland
May 17, 1951 - Something different, up the Hudson River to Albany, NY
May 21, 1951 - Leave Albany and visit an old haunt - Brooklyn
May 23, 1951 - Home again and offload the ammo again
June 26, 1951 - Take the Midshipmen for a ride to Santiago, Cuba
June 30, 1951 - Steam into GITMO for a visit before the age of Castro
July 13, 1951 - We have done the best we can and let the Midshipmen go back to Annapolis
July 17, 1951 - Captain Johnson is relieved by Captain Garth
August 1, 1951 - A bit of Gun Fire Support practice at Bloodsworth Island
September 7, 1951 - On our way to the Med plane guarding the USS LEYTE (CV32) and loose two planes
September 22, 1951 - Another capitol visited - Lisbon, Portugal
October 1, 1951 - It's been months but we are back in Sicily
October 8, 1951 - We are really getting used to pasta, here we are in Naples again
October 12, 1951 - We might be visiting a cartoon town - Leghorn !
October 25, 1951 - Hope we are in time for the film festival in Cannes, the MWB story continues!
October 31, 1951 - A visit to a British Crown Colony - Gibraltar
November 4, 1951 - A great Atlantic crossing- 12' swells, 40 knot winds and 36º rolls.........
