Command ceremony this time for COMDESRON 16
September 17, 1958 - More OPS with a new
Bridge Crew - Secretary of Defense Neil McElroy assumed the helm; Chief of Naval
Operations Admiral Arleigh Burke assumed the deck; Commander-in-Chief Atlantic Fleet
Admiral Jerald Wright assumed the lee helm and the Assistant Secretary of Defense assumed
the duty as Quartermaster

November 21, 1958 - Time for a make-over
so we head to Portsmouth and the shipyard
December 19, 1958 - Enter the drydock and
find a seven foot section of the bilge keel is missing, anybody know who has it?
The rest of the year we spent making snow sleds out of the keel blocks
