October 8, 1964 - A beautiful little island,
we stop in Bermuda
The Logs for the next three weeks indicate only "Steaming in accordance with
COMSUBLANT OP-ORDER 39-64 WHILE CONDUCTING CLASSIFIED OPERATIONS." An informed
source has related what was going on - "we had telemetering equipment and tech-reps
aboard to receive the signals from Polaris missiles that were being tested at the time. We
would sit in one spot for a long time while waiting for the missiles to launch. We bought
some good fishing rods and the crew did some fishing while we waited."
