April 29, 1967 - Arrive on Yankee
Station for more fun plane guarding (Note: The log entry YANKEE PIM, PIM is an acronym for
Position and Intended Movement. It is expressed as a geographic posit and a course and
speed. Thats so Yankee Station, a moving position, can be found. Thanks to Bill Moye
for straightening me out on this - Bill was the XO and Navigator.)

Charger complete, CDD 162 moves to USS Barney (DDG-6) relieving Hobart
May 20, 1967 - Captain Beaman goes to
USS Sanctuary (AH-17) for ulcer surgery, LCDR Moye assumes command
May 25, 1967 - For the third war in
succession Sumner rescues a downed pilot, this time 1stLT Ronnie E. Randolph USAF,
the story is as follows: "On 25 May the 557th Tactical Fighter
Squadron/12th Tactical Fighter Wing lost F-4C 64-0714 (1250 hours), call
sign Sharkbait 6, on a 1300 hours Strike Mission targeting structures in
southern RP-I (Route Package I). During the dive on the target the aircraft
was hit by 57-mm AAA (17°-13'N/106°-42'E). The aircrew made it out to
sea before ejecting at 17°-15'N/107°-12'E; MAJ C. C. Rhymes was picked up
by a USAF helicopter while 1LT Ronnie E. Randolph was plucked from
the water by a USN ship."

Kaohsiung, Taiwan otherwise known as Formosa
July 3, 1967 - A great liberty port

July 11, 1967 - Anchor off Nah Trang,
South Vietnam for II Corps briefing
July 21, 1967 - Relieved from II
Corps duty and head back to lovely Subic Bay
July 22, 1967 - Back for more fun in
Olongopo.........
July 28, 1967 - DesDiv 161 forms up
and heads back to the Hostile Fire Pay Zone
July 31, 1967 - North West of Hue
